Heyy Winers! In honor of international Malbec day, I’m going to introduce you guys to something I had the privilege of experiencing: white Malbec!

Yes, you read that correctly. While Malbec has always been produced as an inky and spicy red, one winery in Mendoza, Argentina may have done something revolutionary. Trivento is a winery located at the intersection a three majors winds: Polar, Zonda, and Sudestada. This winery had an emphasis on tradition and diligent attention to terrior (soil and vineyard composition) producing beautifully crafted wines that capture the natural highlights of the vines.

Produced from 100% Malbec from the Valle de Uco and Lujan de Cuyo both located in Mendoza, this wine blends the nose and palette of both red and white wine well.

The color is crystal clear. It literally looks like water in the glass (this comes from the lack of skin contact). Initially the color made me think the wine would fall flat but it did quite the opposite. It has a noticeable acidity that is balanced by green notes like apple and pear then rounded out with young red fruit flavors like red apples. The body is very light and this wine is perfect for all your summer festivities.

Happy international Malbec day and happy drinking!
